Lord Mayor Promises Action At 33 Marlborough Street

At the Hobart City Council Meeting on Monday August 22nd, the Lord Mayor of Hobart, Rob Valentine said in reply to a Question on Notice from Kirsten Goyne that the Council had received permission from the Planning Tribunal on August 15th 2010 to act in respect of the property.

He said that Tenders are to be called to remove the fill (placed there in 2007 by Mr Khani) and to re-vegetate the block as native bush land.

Whilst no specific date was given it is understood that action is imminent and that the cost to the ratepayers will be secured by lien or caveat over the property and recovered upon sale of the property.

The Lord Mayor went on to say that whilst remedying the very bad drainage problem to Kirsten’s home at No. 31 that has occurred only since Mr Khani had the fill placed there, was not a Council responsibility, execution of the remedial work could well rectify that drainage problem.
